There is a kid in my class who nearly always gets the blame when something happens. Sometimes it is him, but I know that just as often it’s not. He’s a difficult kid but also very sweet and smart, and I feel many teachers have stopped seeing that. I find it quite hard to listen to negative comments about him when I know there’s so much more to him, but I’m determined to stay positive.

I’m currently having to administer the extended content standards tests to my special education students. I love when it is asking my student who cannot independently identify letters to read entire stories by themselves.

My students noticed an ant in the classroom. Three of them could not shift their attention back to the lesson. One of them hits the other, claiming there was an ant on his head. I told them all to get it together, but they were not able to let it go.
I forgot to mention I teach seniors in high school!

I was in my office today when a SPED student of mine came in for snacks. Mind you, she feels very safe in my office area and she completes her work the best she can whenever she is with me because I have built a solid student-teacher relationship with her. So while this student is looking through my piles of snacks to choose from her case manager walks in saying “is that so-and-so being a rat? What is that rat going here going through your food?”

Yall listen- DO NOT WORK WITH KIDS IF YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THEM AND DONT KNOW HOW TO INTERACT WITH THEM. I honestly can’t believe this woman who’s been teachig for 30 + years said what she said to my student, AND THAT’S HER CASE MANAGER!

I am absolutely sick of my school district. No one cares about these kids. I am sick and tired of how they treat the good employees and crap upon those who do their job and go above and beyond the duty of being a teacher. F you all to those who favor someone for being a certain skin color or culture. F you. F you. F your racism and bigotry towards those who don’t speak English. F you to those who can’t maintain a safe and secure school enviornment. Racist ass staff and admin acting like they own the world when they themsevles can’t control their own students. Who the freak do you think you are coming into a school where so many messed up kids already have it hard as it is? How dare you be bias towards those that aren’t the same skin color as you. F you.

I had a student for his freshmen and sophomore year. He worked really hard but was struggling despite his best efforts. I fought to get him the support he needed and it turns out he had an undiagnosed learning disability. He came back to visit today, gave me a big hug, and told me he made the Dean’s List during his freshmen year at college. I wanted to start crying with pride at his accomplishments. It was a great reminder of why I do what I do.

I teach 6th grade. This is the first class in 16 years of teaching that I will not miss. I had to store my flexible seating and get out the desk/chair combos because it seems their first instinct is always to vandalize or show their disregard for property. It’s like a contest to see who can ruin something first, whether it’s furniture, rock samples, scissors, books, etc. I had to put away my chess sets and boards. I don’t understand it. It has been so discouraging.

I’m changing careers. Only a few more days of dealing with low paychecks for high stress. Only a few more days of dealing with crappy administrators who don’t care about us or the students and only care about covering their own butts. But those few days that are left definitely drag on…

I think we should be allowed to slap one parent per year.

The teacher next door yells at the students daily. Lacks empathy and any real connection to the students or other teachers. I’m not sure I can last another year at this school (I’ve been here 12).
