Hilarious Video Shows the Struggle of Keeping Remote Learners Focused

Struggles of teaching remote learners

All teachers are painfully aware of how challenging it is to keep kids focused under the best circumstances. We haven’t been living in the “best circumstances” for almost a year now. Instead, we’re teaching through masks or screens, dealing with new changes and chaos daily. One teacher shared a video clip that perfectly demonstrates the reality of trying to keep remote learners focused on a lesson. The struggle is real.

Remote learners vs. fractions

TikTok user @thatjoshuakid93 is a fifth grade teaching assistant (and “peanut butter enthusiast”!). He posted a video of him being interrupted by a student in the middle of a remote lesson on fractions.

“Can I tell you something?” the student asks. The patient teaching assistant gives the go okay.

“This is going to probably disappoint most of you,” the student warns.

“I. Don’t. Like. Strawberries.”

The teaching assistant can’t help but crack up at the ramdomess and dramatics. “Literally, no one mentioned strawberries!” he mused.

The student goes on to share (without anyone asking), “I don’t like tacos. I don’t like spaghetti -”

To which one of the other remote learners jumps into the rant, questioning, “You don’t like spaghetti?” in disbelief, then urging, “Get her out of here! Freeze the Internet!”

And this was just a few seconds of what it’s like to be a teacher! Keeping remote learners focused is a huge struggle indeed! Check out the hilarious and so relatable video below.
