Teacher Continues Teaching Remotely While House Is Literally On Fire!

Teacher Continues Teaching Remotely While House Is Literally On Fire!

A Chicago area teacher recently went above and beyond while teaching remotely. He continued teaching his third-period social studies class while his house was literally ON FIRE!

John Little is 22-years-old and this is his first year teaching. Hats off to him right there for jumping right into pandemic teaching! He was doing a live lesson when his brother ran in to tell him the house was on fire and they needed to get out. Little ran out of the house into the Chicago winter with no coat or shoes, but he had his laptop.

He tapped into the neighbor’s wifi down the street, briefly let his students know what was happening, and kept on teaching. A concerned parent overheard and called St. Mary’s Catholic School in Buffalo Grove to alert the principal of the teacher’s crisis and dedication. The principal was very impressed, of course.

You’ve got to see this video of the local news interviewing Mr. Little. We’ve watched it more than once. It’s hysterically heartwarming!

Little says his students were very concerned and checked on him throughout the day. They now think it’s super cool that their teacher has been featured on the news. Their parents are impressed by his dedication to the students. Everyone was relieved to learn the house fire was put out quickly by the local fire department with minimal damage.

Teaching remotely while your house is on fire? Now that’s some first-year teacher energy!
