Sooner or later at some point in a child’s life, there comes a time when they need to get one of their parents to sign something they don’t want their parents to see. A detention slip, a failing report card, the list goes on and on. And when that happens, kids turn to the age-old tradition of attempting to forge their parent’s signature to get away with whatever shenanigans they’re trying to get away with.
Our fans weighed in with some of their most bizarre, hilarious and in some cases truly terrible attempts at getting away with this petty crime.
1. The kid that did zero research

OK, we’ll give this kid a little leeway because he’s in third grade… but “Mom”? That’s your final answer bud? Are we sure about that?
2. The child that clearly believes in magically appearing and disappearing

Sadly this is not an isolated experience. Teachers of all grade levels have had students pull this one. But why? How do they think they’re going to get away with it? It’s truly the laziest of all the attempts.
3. When the parents are in on the con

A mother who clearly is acing this whole parenting thing. You absolutely know which kids you can and can’t trust with this.
4. The kid that did zero research

OK, we’ll give this kid a little leeway because he’s in third grade… but “Mom”? That’s your final answer bud? Are we sure about that?
5. The child that does it for all the right reasons

You can’t even be mad at this. It’s sad that some kids figure out at a very early age who has their back and who does not. And when it’s the parents that are dropping the ball, it’s just the worst.
6. The teacher you are ABSOLUTELY, 100% not fooling!

What a battle of wits! Students trained in forensics vs. the teacher that trained them. Game on young padawan… game on.
7. The con that worked a little too well

Consistency is the key to a good forgery. Especially if the teacher has no idea what the real signature looked like in the first place.
8. “Wait, you’re going to fact check this?”

It’s truly amazing what some children think they can get away with because they’re convinced we’re too tired to follow up. I mean, usually we are so they’re not completely wrong, but c’mon man, do better.
9. Pretty sure this is an actual crime

Hey, we’ve all been there. That book fair rolls into town with all those books and posters and stickers and you just have to have that stuff. Apparently some of us are willing to literally break the law for that latest Garfield compilation.
10. When students don’t even put any effort into trying to get away with something.

Yeah, yeah, yeah we get it. Kids are lazy these days. But this has to take the cake. You borrowed the teacher’s pen, then used it to forge a signature, then handed it in immediately? That is a new level of apathy I didn’t know existed.
10. When you try to forge the teacher’s signature

Forging mom’s signature to get away with something at school is one thing. Trying to slip one past your parents is an entirely different ballgame. Depending on the parents you had growing up, this could end so, so poorly.
ting. I mean, maybe we shouldn’t be announcing this in a public forum, but glad to hear it all worked out for you!
