At Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School in Memphis, Tennessee, two football players saw one of their classmates being bullied for wearing the same clothes to school every day. One of the football players was part of the laughter during the bullying but then decided it wasn’t right and that he had to do something about it. So he, Kristopher Graham, and his friend/teammate Antwann Garrett pulled the bullied classmate, Michael Todd, out of the classroom one day to give him some of their own clothes and a brand new pair of shoes.
A video of them giving the boy his gifts in the hallway went viral on social media and the act of kindness started getting shared by news outlets around the country, catching the attention of several celebrities, including Ellen Degeneres and Will Smith.
What you did may seem small to you, but I promise you that is EXACTLY how human beings are supposed to interact with one another. It’s not more complicated than that, someone is having a hard time, you help them. It’s that simple.”
-Will Smith
They were so blown away by the gesture these two young men made that they went above and beyond to reward them with some gifts of their own, including a bag of exclusive gear from Will Smith’s new line of clothing coming out soon, New Balance sneakers for their entire school, and three checks for $10,000 for each of the boys.
